Why Your Business Needs a Website
Instagram and WhatsApp got you here. They won't get you to the next stage.
Every business we've built for started the same way: an Instagram page, a WhatsApp number, and word of mouth doing the heavy lifting. That's not a bad start. It's how almost every business in Nigeria actually begins.
The problem shows up later, quietly. A customer wants to check you out before they message you. They search your business name. Instagram shows them a grid of posts: no prices, no clear offer, no way to tell if you're still active or if that account was abandoned eight months ago. WhatsApp shows them nothing at all until they've already messaged you, which is exactly the step a cautious customer won't take first.
A website answers the question before it's asked. What you sell, what it costs, whether you're legitimate, whether you're still in business. None of that requires the customer to risk a first message to a stranger.
This isn't an argument against social media. It's still where you'll be discovered. The website is what discovery leads to. Instagram gets someone curious. The website is what makes them confident enough to actually buy.
The businesses that wait longest to make this move usually aren't the ones without money for a website. They're the ones who haven't yet lost a customer to a competitor who had one. That customer rarely tells you why they went elsewhere. They just don't message back.
